A Fresh Look at Scripture on Women in Missions, Ministry, and Leadership
Millions of women all over the world are looking over the church's shoulder, longing to see the freedom Jesus purchased for them at Calvary. Millions more have found freedom in Jesus but are still bound by human ideas - ideas that pressure a woman to let culture, not God, determine her place in the Kingdom.
While hurting men and women outside the church cry out, "Is there any hope? Does anyone care?" their sisters in the church are asking, "How can I share the hope I have? How can I, a woman, serve the Lord?" Many women, having heard God call them into public roles in the Kingdom, are serving in positions of leadership. They are asking, "Will the church support us?"
We must respond. The issue of women in missions, ministry, and leadership is dividing homes, churches, communities, even societies. We must respond responsibly, for we never want to find ourselves working against God's purposes, quenching His Spirit at work in the lives of those He has called. We must respond carefully, since God's truth often stands in direct opposition to what the majority of people believe.

This book sat next to my bed for months, once I opened it, I could not put it down. I started to underline amazing points within the first few pages and ended up under lining about 1/8 th of the entire book! I hesitate to say this for sounding nuts but this is the best book I have EVER read. It teaches me why everything I knew in my heart to be true is true. One point alone, headship. The "head" of the woman is the man verse is explained that the word "head" in Greek is the head of a river, not the head on a body. So head translated more accurately would be "origin" as in the man is the origin of the woman and Christ is the Origin of the church. Wow! That is only one of hundreds of gold nuggets of wisdom in this book. One complaint is the cover, I did not pick it up because it looked cheesy with the women on the front. Also, it would be rare for a man to pick up and read a book with women on the front and men who do not think woman should be in ministry or be pastors, MUST read this book. Change cover to be masculine for more distribution. I have read over ten books about women in ministry, this is by FAR the best one. Order it now! Rev. Tracy GallowayProduct details

Why Not Women? edition by Loren Cunningham David Joel Hamilton Janice Rogers Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Seriously, why would half the work force be prevented? Equipped but hobbled? As for the Greek arguments pro and con, no one speaks ancient Greek today so a Greek word means what your teacher has said it meant past down from their teachers and all do not agree. Just look at the alternate words in your Bible's margins.
I have bought more copies of this book than I can count! I always recommend it to anyone who wants any clarity on the subject. As the founder of YWAM, surely Loren Cunningham has propelled more women into ministry than any other, so he speaks with authority. His co-author is a Hebrew and Greek scholar. I met both of them personally at a conference last year and was so struck by their humility, grace and authority.
Excellent! This book is the most comprehensive I've read on the topic of women in leadership. There's been much confusion over the years in regards to the Bible's view of women in ministry and leadership. I truly wish pastors would teach on this on Sunday's. So many women feel sidelined while making up the majority of the congregation.
I will be recommending this book to everyone I know! Well done. Well supported with scripture.
This book changed my opinion that Christianity marginalized women. It showed that it wasn't God's Word that excluded women; it was those who controlled its interpretation and content. It explained the challenges of translating the Bible into English and adding grammar and punctuation. It also revealed, to my surprise, that Paul mentioned and praised women by name.
The greatest gift I got was the understanding that Jesus elevated the status of women and Paul supported it. Reading Paul's letters in original context and learning how women played a pivotal role in establishing the early church helped me embrace this faith. I am now a Christian and this book is one of the reasons why.
This is one of the best explanations Scripturally why women should be equal to men in church ministry. The Scriptures that address this issue are very carefully exegeted and explained in cultural context. A must read for all who think women should not preach, teach, or prophecy. And an encouragement for all others.
This review is mainly to let people know that the version is incomplete. The book is missing the last chapter!! and it refers to several diagrams and charts that are not included. The footnotes also seem to be incomplete and only include chapters 1-8. SO frustrating!
This is an excellent book! Everyone in church leadership both men and women should read this book. From the days of Adam and Eve, God created them equal. However, women have suffered greatly because of mythical beliefs. God calls us all to ministry both women and men alike. This book is filled with so much information you will find yourself chewing on the information of each chapter before you can move on to the next. I have compared it to the likes of three years of college rolled into 242 pages. You will not regret reading this book. Be enlightened! See what you've been missing.
